Bands & Projects

Various musical projects I've involved myself with. The music may have not changed the world, but it certainly filled many hours of punter dance time.

Many of these bands were in collaboration with Mike Clennett who is a well known solo singer/guitarist and lead singer of Dr Fink (and Fink). The gents from Dr Fink are still playing top-notch music in venues around Tasmania.

More recently I've been jamming with ZiggyZig, Well Hung Monkeys, teaching bass to my 8 year old, and drums to my 11 year old. There is a rumour that New Retro Club has a new bass/keys player. I will investigate the source of this rumour before commenting further.

New Retro Club

This was an 80's cover band with established gigs in Hobart. I filled in every now and then, when their keyboard player was unavailable. Didn't last very long. Kinda waste of my time.

Quiet Earth

Not strictly a band, more a state of mind. I spent over 10 years away from any hint of music. Instead I went to Uni, learned a new profession, and established a new career for myself programming computers.

During this time I played a little piano, and learned the bass guitar. I also jammed with a bunch of other musicians, but never in public.

Funken Groovers

This band specialized in 70's disco covers, featured a blonde bombshell lead singer, and a sense of style ... locked in time.

Turn Up The Cool

Despite the dodgy name, this was the first time I worked in a musical project unrelated to Dr Fink or ancestors. The musicians I worked with were amongst the best I played with.

Fink

Fink was the original band spin-off of Dr Fink, and was born when MC entered a demo into a band competition. Attempting the near impossible, the cover band paid bills, the original band didn't.

Dr Fink

This band has been actively gigging around Tasmania and Victoria for over 17 years. This project started in the ashes of a tour with the Blues Bros, and dictated my lifestyle for over 6 years.

Australian Blues Bros (Revival Band)

I completed one tour of duty with this Australian pub rock institution. After three months of arduous work, I returned to Hobart to start work with MC on Dr Fink.

Legends

Also known as Stynes Legends, this was the very first incarnation of this show band, covering Blues Brothers, Alice Cooper, Joe Cocker, Status Quo, Ac/Dc, amongst others. This band lasted a bit over a year before we all joined Styne on a Blues Brothers tour (something he had been doing for many years).

Clown House

This was a short lived project with MC and TH, featuring sequencers and electronic drums ... an experiment with MIDI.

Complex Minds

The first band I did regular gigs with, and the foundation for over a decade of cover bands.
